There is no theme to anything I put up, and no axes to grind.Just stuff that I think might be rare and somebody might interested somewhere.
The Breakaways- Don't go Breaking My Heart
Tony Hatch's backing singers- he tried to give them a hit of their own, but was not to be.However they feature prominently on Burt Baccarach's 'Trains n Boats and Planes' record.

Thought to be the very first screen appearance of Diana Rigg and a very early Donald Sutherland appearance in a long forgotten series called ' The Sentimental Agent ' Further information I am told, Diana played a real estate agent on one of the West Indian islands . The Sentimental Agent arrives there investigating corrupt property deals and other such dastardly deeds.

Three members of the British gene pool that the Vikings didn't haul away. Really pretty girls with wonderful voices. Never understood why this song wasn't made longer or why it was not promoted much more or even sung by many others. You just never heard it much anywhere back in the day. A lot of us from that era are gone and a lot will be soon enough. The boomer problem will soon be solved only to be replaced by some other.
Darling cheesehead i was yards too greasy.
You forget how good they were back then
I have to ask the native English speakers here: when you heard the song for the first time, did you understand the lyrics? Not the meaning or the message, did you recognize the words? Because man, even with them printed by my side, it is hard.
Mein lieber Barry du hast uns soviele Songs hinterlassen, nun RUHE IN FRIEDEN, MIT PAUL vereint Und eure Fans denken an Euch ❤❤❤❤
Big classic! 🔥👏🏾🎶
You can feel B BACHARACH S INFLUENCE CLAUDE REBILLE PARIS

I never knew of her while she was alive, but she was my kind of lady
The first 10 seconds I thought that it was The Breakaways.
I bought this in 1971 at 11 still gets the body moving. Beautiful.
Excellent 👍🏿👍🏿
I'm never going to forget you. Will always remember your great contribution to reggae music.

Sensational vocals. Wish I could go back to this time
Beautiful song beautiful vocals
It sounds very ' Burt Bacharach '
it is very 'Tony Hatch' unsung producer. Although Burt did use Tony's backing girls 'The Breakaways' on his 'Trains, and boats and planes'
Me perteneces, vendrás a mí.

Such a cool video all round.
Great song from Jackie. A lot of her husband's creations were sung by Petula Clark. ❤

Not mentioned anything about this video or song.
Lovely record, one of many by this great singer!
Wonderful Refreshing Song and Sung like So Beautiful.
This was the first number one record by a British female artiste that was self penned, no one can take that away from her, she also happens to be my Mum. God bless you Mummy xxx
Today I see it as a metaphor for a lost world.
I thought it was a collaboration of Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch who wrote that. Kate Bush was the first British female artiste that solely self penned and also wrote and played her own music to her song, the song was ''Wuthering Heights'' which was a number one hit 1978. Gaz UK.
@@Gazr965 I didn't say 'solely" x
@@slrpaman I took 'self' as solely, sorry about that. Gaz.
@@Gazr965 No worries, it was still a first. D x
I think the lady in this video is an actress called Ann Lynn can anyone confirm.? Great song uk no 1 from 1965
Yes, you are right. It is Ann Lynn in the video. She made many film and TV appearances. I especailly remember seeing her in TV series such as Gideon's Way, Z Cars, The Saint, Minder, The Professionals, Just Good Friends and Eastenders, to name just a few.
The film sequence is taken from a movie titled.Four in the Morning.
What always amazed me was not only her only number one, but also her only top 10🎩
I think she and hubby Tony Hatch were mainly concerned in writing and production as this was just written for a piece in a TV drama and was not originally intended for a release - They wrote 'Positive Thinking' for Morecambe & Wise for example.

The music of my childhood!!!!
Very beautiful ladies 😻❤❤❤
I don't think this is reggae. I think it is ska. It's a blend of Calypso and R & B. I could be wrong. Whatever you call it, it's fantastic!
I saw DD and the Aces at Brays Grove Youth Club, Harlow, Essex in the late 60s. Still remember the show to this day
This video is so heart wrenching. Looks like 2 people v much in love who must part. And now I expect the actors have died as has the singer. The 1960s are slipping away from us all.😥
I saw an episode of 'The Saint' recently I remember watching that with Mum and Dad years ago - now everything has gone into nothing from that room including my dog, the TV set, the sofa and even the house itself - probably a similar situation that has been repeated millions of times over thousands of years - as they said in the 60s "' What's it all about Alfie?"
sadly, it is ( sigh) stay well friend.
Yes,55 years at end of year is the end,the near end,of the decade!🎩
I bought this on the Pye compilation double album back in 1972 and now in 2024 am in love with this song again (52 years later)
The original Bananarama! Three women all singing the same notes. Love it
The middle one, Vicky, is Sam Brown's mum.
He has in my opinion a voice similar to David Cassidy.
Love this song! ❤
